Q: Can DesktopResponse check the response time of more than one URL? A: DesktopResponse allows you to monitor as many URLs as the license allows. For example a 10 URL license will allow you to monitor 10 different web page URLs. Note even if a web page has the same name on more than one server they are counted separately. A: The best way to do this is to refer to Section 12 of the manual which provides an example and a brief description. Simply click here.
Q: I just installed DesktopResponse. When I go to the Web Interface and select one of the reports (Last Hour, Last 24 Hours, or Last 30 Days), why do I get a "...page cannot be found" error? A: To facilitate rapid information access, DesktopResponse actually stores these three reports, each as a separate HTML page, in the "www" subdirectory of the main DesktopResponse application folder. These pages are regenerated "in the backround" at regular intervals that coincide with the archiving of latency and packet loss information to historical log files. When you first start running DesktopResponse, these pages are not present because the application has not yet reached the first log interval and subsequently there is no historical data to report. Wait a few minutes and try again. Q: When trying to start the DesktopResponse server I get the exception: "Address in use (port 80)" Can I use another port? A: If you are using a Visualware server product, or another application, that has its port pointing to 80 (the default http port), please change the port within DesktopResponse to another port that you have available, i.e. 8001, 8080. Q: If I've forgotten my password, how I can get into the system, and is it possible for me to change it? A: There is no way to find out the current password (this is a security feature). It is a 'one-way' function. To start over, delete the \windows\java\dsc\vip\startup.ini file. Q: How do I configure DesktopResponse on my machine? A: Start up DesktopResponse and under the option file choose Preferences. Configure the following:Port 80 (or an alternative port)Then click on Add List. Exit the dialog, and press start.
